The best thing about Davao City is that it naturally embraces the outdoors along with its urban lifestyle feel. One of the most sought after destinations would be the beaches off the city shore at Island Garden City of Samal. Although it is considered as a distinct city from Davao, it shares its strong cultural ties, adventure and love for fun aquatic activities.

Blugre Opens Mall Branches

Blugre, as a proud homegrown brand of Davao city, takes it to a different level this year by opening mall branches. They just opened their Abreeza, Gaisano Mall and SM Lanang Premier branches and boy, Davao has never been prouder.

So, what's new with Blugre? Aside from the mall branches, they'll be renovating ALL Davao city branches too! They'll also open their Tagum branch by the last week of February. Coffee is still as good, and the pastries are divine. My personal picks are Choco Torte, Hungarian Sausage Breakfast Meal and their home-brewed iced tea. 

Now, they might not be very noisy about this, but Blugre is one brand that really knows how to give back. As a long-time advocate of the government's Carbon Neutral program, they believe that the advancement of their business should also take into consideration the developments of its vicinity and the communities that built it. They also provide support to several B'laan tribes by supporting their livelihoods through fair coffee trading and helping them build schools. THAT, their yummy coffeee, and their super cozy ambiance, surely warm one's heart.

Bulgogi Brothers Now Open in Davao

With over 38 stores in South Korea to its first Philippine branch, Bulgogi brothers paved its way to the hearts of the Filipinos. In fact, BB just invaded Davao with the opening of its second outside Luzon branch at the 2nd flr. of SM Lanang Premier's Fountain Court.

The 80-seater restaurant invites residents of Davao city and neighbouring towns whoa are in for great meals whenever they visit Bulgogi Brothers. They don't have to travel far for a taste of authentic Korean dining.

The authentic dining experience starts with complimentary side dishes and the quintessential Kimchi. There's also free-flowing organic corn tea, that is perfect for a huge meal of Bulgogi Brothers' Unyang (classic beef patties), Gwang Yang (seasoned beef with sweet sauce), Seoul (sliced beef with mixed vegetables, fruits and onion), Kimchi-jjigae (spicy stew made with kimchi pork and tofu) and Dubu steak (fried crispy tofu with teriyaki sauce and bean sprout. And these are just few of their menu must-try's.

Events in Davao: Davao Celebrates 17th National Autism Consciousness Week

The third week of January has been declared National Autism Consciousness Week, following Presidential Proclamation 711 signed in 1996 by then President Fidel V. Ramos.  This year’s celebration, slated on January 20-27, is the 17^th National Autism Consciousness Week and has adopted the theme, “Autismo Alamin Pagtanggap at Pag-unawa Palagananpin”, to promote the right information on autism that will pave the way for the public to truly understand and accept persons with autism as part of the society.

Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that affects how an individual interprets what he sees, hears, and touches, thereby impairing his understanding and use of language and his adaptation to his environment.  Autism is now considered the fastest rising developmental disability in the world.  In the Philippines, almost 1 million Filipino families are estimated to be affected with autism.

Autism Society Philippines (ASP) has been in the forefront of providing services to families affected with autism. ASP has grown from the 11 mothers who bonded together for the causes of their children in 1989, to more than 8,000 members, with 62 chapters all over the country.
